Censorship Beyond Books Librarians share experiences of challenges to displays, exhibits, and more Pekoll has worked to bring awareness of these types of challenges to the broader discussion around censorship and intellectual freedom.

Dealing with school library book challenges before they happen. For a good list of organizations that are dedicated to fighting book censorship, just take a look at the list of sponsoring organizations in my article about Banned Books Week.

There are more than a dozen sponsors, including the American Library Association, National Council of Teachers of English, American Society of Journalists and Authors.

But libraries do not have infinite book budgets nor unending shelf space, and so they must select materials to be included in their collections.

A library walks a fine line between the creation of a coherent collection of our world's knowledge and censorship. Books in a library are not chosen for their popularity. The Tennessee Library Association also provides a one-stop, easy-to-use form to add your disproval of the bill.

If Bailey or Holt are your representative, reach out to them about your disapproval of public library censorship at the hands of community members. More recent books that were challenged according to the American Library Association include the Twilight saga due to its 'religious viewpoint and violence' and 'The Hunger Games' because it was unsuited to the age group, sexually explicit and too violent'.

Many ways exist to ban books. Our county has a group which reads the questionable book. In other countries, Library censorship book is accepted as inevitable in times of war, and it has been imposed to varying degrees even in peacetime.

In the Middle Ages, attempts to silence heresy through intimidation, particularly through the establishment of the Inquisition, were examples of censorship, as are modern instances of book banning.
